Choosing the Right System for Your Property
Picking the right aircon system is one of the most important decisions you will make for your home or office. The wrong BTU size wastes electricity and shortens the unit’s life. Poor outdoor placement makes future servicing expensive or impossible. Messy copper-pipe runs look ugly and cannot be fixed without tearing into your walls.
That is why iCare Aircon starts every aircon installation in Singapore with a proper site survey, not a phone estimate. We visit the property, measure each room, photograph your wall and ledge options, check the electrical panel capacity, and only then provide a written quote. The survey is free, and you are never obligated to proceed.

With 10 years of installation experience across the island, our BCA-registered team has fitted systems in everything from compact Toa Payoh HDB studios to large Orchard Road penthouses. That breadth of experience means we know which system type, brand, and configuration works best for your specific situation.
HDB, Condo, and Landed: What Each Property Type Needs
Not all installations are the same. The property type determines the approval process, bracket requirements, pipe-routing options, and even the electrical load you can draw. Here is what you need to know.
HDB Flats
HDB regulations are strict. Outdoor condensing units must sit on designated aircon ledges or be mounted on concrete or brick walls using stainless steel brackets. Units must not exceed 110 kg per wall panel, and piping must run internally to a floor trap to prevent dripping onto neighbours below. Improper installation can result in fines up to S$5,000. Our technicians handle the HDB online submission where authorised and know which ledge configurations work for each block type. Older estates in Tampines and Toa Payoh often have smaller ledges that require careful condenser placement, while newer BTO flats in Punggol typically offer more generous aircon ledge space.
Condominiums
Condo installations require MCST approval before work begins. Each management corporation has different requirements: some need a specific submission form, others maintain an approved installer list, and many specify bracket types or noise limits. We have completed hundreds of MCST submissions across Singapore and keep the process smooth for you. Concealed ducted systems, common in luxury condos along Marine Parade and River Valley, require specialist routing that our senior technicians handle regularly.
Landed Properties
Landed homes offer the most flexibility but also the longest pipe runs. A detached house in the Frankel estate may need 15 to 20 metres of copper piping to connect bedroom units to an outdoor condenser. We plan the route during the survey to keep trunking clean, minimise bends that reduce efficiency, and position the condenser for easy future servicing access.

Our Step-by-Step Installation Process
Every aircon installation by iCare Aircon follows a proven sequence designed to get it right the first time.
Site survey. A technician visits, measures each room, inspects proposed unit locations, checks outdoor condenser placement, and reviews your electrical panel. You receive a written quote within 24 hours covering installation labour, consumables like copper pipe, brackets, and trunking, and unit supply pricing if requested.
Approval handling. For HDB and condo installations that require submissions, we prepare and file the paperwork. We know which MCST offices want what documentation and we handle the HDB portal submission directly where permitted.
Installation day. Drop sheets go down before any tools come out. Wall brackets or ledge brackets are mounted to manufacturer specifications. Copper pipes are run cleanly with minimal trunking or concealed routing where practical. The drainage line is routed with correct slope and full insulation. Electrical connections are checked and earthed to local wiring standards. The outdoor condenser is mounted with proper vibration isolation.

Commissioning. Every new system goes through a full vacuum-and-pressure test before refrigerant is released. This is non-negotiable. It is the single biggest safeguard against slow refrigerant leaks in the first 12 months. We also check the current draw on each unit under load.
Handover walkthrough. We do not just hand you a remote and leave. We show you how to operate the unit across all modes, the correct filter cleaning interval, what normal running sounds and temperatures feel like, when to book the first professional service (usually 3 months for new installs), and how to log a warranty claim if needed.

What to Expect on Pricing
Installation labour starts from S$350 per unit. A typical 3-unit HDB system installation lands between S$1,050 and S$1,500 in labour depending on several factors:
- Pipe-run length, whether the bedroom unit is near the outdoor ledge or far across the flat
- Concealed versus exposed trunking
- Bracket and ledge requirements
- Electrical socket or isolator work needed
- Demolition and disposal of old units
Unit cost is separate and depends on brand, BTU rating, and inverter features. We quote both lines transparently so you can compare easily. As authorised partners for Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, and Panasonic, iCare Aircon offers competitive supply pricing through our direct trade accounts with brand distributors.
Every installation comes with a 90-day workmanship warranty. The unit itself is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, typically 1 year on the full system and 5 years on the compressor, varying by brand.
Why a Proper Survey Prevents Costly Mistakes
Many installation problems we are called to fix started with a skipped site survey. The most common ones include units oversized for the room that cycle on and off constantly, driving up electricity bills while failing to dehumidify properly. Undersized units run continuously without reaching the set temperature. Outdoor condensers placed in locations that make future chemical wash or repair work impossible without scaffolding. Pipe runs with too many bends that restrict refrigerant flow and reduce cooling output.
A 30-minute survey prevents all of these issues. Our technician, sometimes lead technician James Tan himself for larger projects, walks through every room, measures the dimensions, notes sun exposure and window area, and designs the system layout before a single bracket goes up.

Installation FAQ
How long does aircon installation take?
A single split-unit install is typically 4 to 6 hours. A 3-unit multi-split system takes a full day, around 6 to 9 hours. Condominium jobs with long pipe runs or complex routing can extend into a second visit for ceiling work. We confirm timing after the site survey.
Do I need HDB or MCST approval?
For HDB flats, outdoor condenser placement on the common corridor or external wall needs HDB approval. Unit replacement in the existing location usually does not. For condos, always check with your MCST as many require a submission form, approved installer list, or specific bracket types. We guide you through both processes.
What BTU size do I need?
Rough rule of thumb for Singapore: 9,000 BTU for bedrooms under 12 sqm, 12,000 BTU for larger bedrooms or small living rooms, 18,000 to 24,000 BTU for full living-dining halls. Floor-to-ceiling windows, western sun exposure, and high occupancy all increase the load, so we calculate properly on site.
Which brands do you install?
All the major brands sold in Singapore: Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Toshiba, LG, Panasonic, Hitachi, Samsung, Gree, Midea, and Fujitsu. We advise on brand choice based on your budget, room usage, and energy-tick preference with no commission-based bias towards any brand.
Do you supply the units or do I buy them?
Either works. We can supply at competitive rates through our trade accounts with the main brand distributors, or you can source the unit yourself from Courts, Harvey Norman, or brand showrooms and we install. Prices are transparent either way.
Is the installation covered by warranty?
Yes. iCare Aircon provides a 90-day workmanship warranty covering installation faults such as leaks at the flare joint, drainage problems, and vibration issues from bracket mounting. The manufacturer covers the unit itself, typically 1 year full and 5 years on the compressor, varying by brand. We walk you through both warranties at handover.
